Just curious to know whether if my dad get's a new exhaust put on his AU2 Fairmont Ghia (we want some noise!) is it going to void his warranty?

Whats the deal in this situation?

That's a hard one to answer. If you wanted a job done under warrenty and it was proved that the non Ford exhaust was the cause, then you wouldn't have a leg to stand on.

However, problems like that would be extremely rare.

My AUII XR6 was around 8 months old when I had the Herrods system put on. I actually got Ford to fit it and it is now in their database as a Ford fitted accessory. I even have the paperwork to prove it.

My car has been serviced (AUII Free servicing) at a different dealer that fitted it. I spent the day answering questions from the mechanics who fell in love with it. So it doesn't effect the free servicing.

Who knows though, if push comes to shove whether Ford would agree to fix any problems that arose from the exhaust under warrenty.

It's a risk you take.

Ditto, at my thirty 30K service all the service manager said was 'nice pipes!'. But if a warranty issue arose that might involve the exhaust, then who knows...

okay, so now dads interested..

can anyone tell me, exactly what needs to be done to the car, what are good products and how much it would cost to get a new exhaust system? the aim is to have a louder sounding v8, but not too over the top, can anyone help me out?

Depends on what you want and how much you want to spend.

If you only want a bit of extra noise, just replace the rear exhaust (muffler). Check out pacemakers, lukey or HM exhausts. You can buy these for around $300. If you want it to last buy it in stainless steel.

If you want performance, add a larger cat and extractors as well. The companies above can also supply these. Depending on what you buy you can spend between $1000 and $2000.

Check out the mods page on my website to see what I have from Herrods in Melbourne. That's a full stainless system and adds around 20kW to performance. Venom XR has the same system on his.
