Well at 12.03 today RACV has told me that they are cancelling my policy, as the front mags are 1/2 an inch over size and the rears are 1.5" over size for the GT/GT-P, 8" mags (standard only) will be excepted, as for the new 2 piece brembo's not a chance in hell, and the SS cold air induction systen was way to radical for them, so now i'm off to find some one who will cover me with these extreme mods

DOesn't sound right. I am insured with RACV... have listed my mods (See below) and they have no problems with them at all. However I do know mags can sometimes cause a problem insurers...cos thieves love em...

well now you went out and spent 13k and have no insurance. guess youve learnt to ASK THEM FIRST next time. hope you got a shitter to get you around till you get new insurance. try just car as they dont really mind what you do as long as you tell them and dont mind your insurance going up for each mod you do...oh and expect to have to drive the car to their office so they can view it as well.

That's no good at all - especially when most insurers are only interested in forced induction mods, and where the standard acceptable rim increase is 2" diameter, and 1" width (oh, i do see a problem, as they are 1.5" wider at the rear).
The brake upgrade is a crazy thing to reject as it's a factory option. Shouldn't matter if it wasn't fitted at the time. Try AAMI - they allow 3 mods.

I DID ask them !! and they said as long as the diameter was no biger then 1" above standard thats okay but as soon as i said the front tyres were 8.5" wide they said NO, even asked if i put the original wheels back on could i get the insurance to cover the brembo brakes, again NO ! (they are the same size as the GT-P ones except they are a 2 piece set up) even showed the lady the FPV catalog, with all the specs.
So i have 7 days to find a new insurer, I'm waiting on shannons to get back to me, AAMI wont touch me as i have had my licence suspended 4 years ago and a few speeding fines, Budget direct car insurance dont do FPV's even though they have them listed on they site ! so it will be fun over the next couple of days !
FULLTHROTTLE, I have 5 lock nuts on each wheel so 20 in total. and i dont have a shitter to get around in

doesnt make sense either really, especially as they had already told you that it would be OK - did you point that out?
if you cant get insurance you could always put it back to standard until you work something out i spose

The problem with most insurance company's is that each time you speak to some different person you will always get different figures regarding your quotes etc, maybe if you spoke once again to a insurance person you will proberly get a better result, might be worth a try.
Cheers John

yeah id ring back up and ask them again. make out that you havent done the mods and if they agree to it then ask them to send the quote (with the 'proposed' mods on it) and then take it back into them and cut sick at them! i got voided for my AU coz i lowered it 2 inches at the back to level up the car and they told me that its now considered a 'hotrod' man did i laugh! anyways 3 months later (with no insurance) i got jack of it so i went back to morses undercar and told them and they got onto it and come back to with 'ford make base model cars higher than other models so infact youve only really lowered it 1 1/2 inchs. they rang RACV and told them that and it was all fine in the end......even got bumped up to rating 1 for stuffing me around!

Insurance companies are a bunch of fcukwits! They have no clue, and have not touch with society. Will they void my car warranty as my automatic transmission wasn't standard? It was a FACTORY OPTION too you know! Why else would it cost $800 more?
