Ok I'm going to ruffle some feathers here....... I hate rear spoilers on road cars. I have never seen a car with a rear spoiler that wouldnt look better without it.
I find it ironic that they are called spoilers, because to me thats exactly what they do, they literally spoil a good looking car.
Now whos with me?
Do they actually do anyhing at 100km/h or less? At what speed do they become noticeably effective?
They have their place when it comes to looks. IMO the back of a series one AU looks better with one, but then theres plenty of cars out there that look prety mad without one (later series AU's included).
Anything with the autobarn-special alloy racing wing (read: ricer wing) ought to be rear-ended in a big way
Well...unless it's actually capable of some sort of prolonged speed/cornering.
I dont like spoilers on most cars... Although EA-ED's look great with the XR lip spoiler and AU's NEED a rear spoiler on them, but otherwise NO spoilers.
Depends on the car. Try taking a corner hard in a hi-po vehicle with and without a touring spoiler. Agreed they look crap on most of the cars on teh roads (always FWD Preludes for some reason!), but definitely serve a purpose in some cars.

Psycho Chicken that looks good. I dont really consider that to be a spoiler, even though technically it is. I was more thinking spoilers where there is daylight between it and the boot lid.
I must admit the more subtle the spoiler the less offensive.
I have never driven a hi po sports car, with or without a spoiler. So whats the difference? Do they rail the corners better with the spoiler?
Can you feel a difference at 100km/h while cornering with a spoiler?
I also agree that it depends on the car. I personally love my car without one, very clean. If it served a purpose then I would consider having it... But Fairlanes I see with wings just looked ugly IMO.
I am not too keen on them. The AU falcons looked better without a spoiler on some of them (A series 2 series 3). Although it looked good with a small lip spoiler on the AU3. E series cars sorry don't like them with spoilers. BA only with the XR it looked ok. Prefer it with none.
