After having had my car in the panel beater having the rust repaired (lets not talk about the quantity, at least its gone now), the guys have asked me what colour I want to paint it.
Its currently the standard Deep Aqua, but because the front doors, bonnet, front guards and boot have all been repaired, it'll be fairly easy to paint it another colour.
The problems I face is these:
I can't get the engine bay painted a different colour because they'd have to pull the engine and that just isn't going to happen.
I think I might get annoyed if everytime i open the bonnet and somebody says, 'how come the engine bays a different colour'.
And secondly, although I intend to keep the car for some time, will the car have a better resale value if it is the original colour or doesn't it matter?
What do you reckon, same again or different colour?
I thought I might add a silver pearl to the original colour just to make it different, OR I don't mind the Mid metallic blue available on the BA's (not blueprint)
To see the Aqua colour visit here: Now an XB Pilot (vinyl roof now gone)
Also, if you don't agree with my colour choice, let me know what you reckon is a cool colour and if you can provide an exmaple that would be great.
Thanks All,
Simon

I don't mind the original colour - stands out and is street better than "tiger mica"...
As for resale value, I dont think it matters that much - if it was a GT it would be a different story. But if you are going to paint it, make sure that you paint it a colour that YOU like.

Hmmm maybe a modern version of that aqua ie. with metallic or pearl through it. Maybe make it a bit darker? That way the difference wouldn't be so noticeable.
Also, I think it was fordqirl on these forums had her engine bay repainted without removing the engine if I remember correctly. It was a top-notch job and apparently you couldn't tell.

Having the engine bay sprayed with out removing the engine is great, but I just don't think that they'll be able to spray around the exhausts, it is so tight in there.
will I be able to get the same colour with a metallic through it? Can they just take the original mix and add the flake? That'd be alright if they could.
Fordgirl, if you read this thread before the weekend could you let me know how you got the engine bay resprayed without removing the engine (if it was you of course)

Respraying the original colour is a cheaper option too, but the engine bay just worries me, maybe later I can spray the engine bay black.
EBXR, that XC radiator I got off you didn't fit either, something is not quite right with my car me thinks. Maybe time to get busy with the grinder.
Anyone else got some ideas for me?
If it's a V8 radiator? It's wider than the 6cyl one. Just use an angle grinder make the radiator hole in the RSP bigger. That way the core isn't shrouded. There is a difference in the top mounting also. Not 100% sure if the bottom mounts are different also.
fordqirl (misOmaniac) had her engine bay painted on her EB XR8, cost was $300 and they didnt remove the engine. Came up pretty good from what i saw, there are pics in the EA-ED pics thread.

You can tint, add anything to a mixed paint before spraying, just get done what you want, tell them, they tell you the cost, I would get a metalic done in the original colour, then the engine bay wont stand out too much either.
