I have a really starnge problem with my au xr6 vct auto first thing in the morning it is sluggish ,if u pull over and turn the car off and restart the car the exhaust changes and it is a lot more responsive any help from the vast out there would help?

strange, its almost like the computer is not initialising correctly. Might be worth taking it to Ford to have any error codes read.

I've had something similar happen to mine but that was due to the chiptorque chip becoming a tad lose and not getting a clean connection. Bit of tape and it was all fixed.

it is a series 1 au with auto i have had no codes appear at all i ve gone to the length of leaving my car overnight, and they could not find anythink,i have had a new exhaust put on s/s hi flow cat and mufflers pacemaker extractors,k&n filter, cold air intake,ngk iridum plugs,new hi performance leads,map sensor,tps,oxygen sensor,water temp sensor,injector flush,running always on premium,it is a totally different car after restarting the second time has no flatspots,i have taken to ford when playing up didnt turn the car off and they did their tests,30 mins later nothing,what i have notice on colder mornings it is a lot sluggish but again if you stop and restart the car it is again 3 or 4 time better.

I'd put money on a computer fault. Sounds like on first start it is running the default factory settings, but then somehow on the second start it "finds" the learnt parameters. Have you simply tried unhooking the battery overnight and starting afresh?

i tried that as well while i was at it i put a new xr8 size battery in and clean battery terminals really well,it could be a fuel fault or would it be a computer sensor problem i need help i dont want to get rid of it yet,it has been a good car apart for the present problem

see if u can test another ecu on it from a wreckers or something.....

will a wreakers let me borrow a computer to see if it is the problem,i will have to find out is there a way of testing a faulty ecu because ford says it is all find with no codes so basically a ecu can be faulty and show no faults, makes everyones job easy doesn't , will have to bribe a wreaker to try it out on friday.
