It is sad too see people killed in cars. But when the Police over react, as they said they will do, it hurts us all, in the car community.
Because 2 people were killed in a ricer, Police in W.A are going to clamp down on hi-po ricers AND V8's.
Why pick on us V8 owners ? We didn't do it. !
Why also include V8's. !!
I can see a time when V8's will be banned. Those of us who have a V8, make the most of it. It will either be legislated off the road or taxed off the road.
I must be watching news on the wrong channel or reading the wrong magazines. I hear about this at work and amongst friends, but have not seen it at all on TV or the web....can anyone point me to the news clip?

I see that the reporters are still doing good research on their stories.
Quote:
By then, the flames off the car were 10 foot (30m) in the air and it was on the verge of exploding
Umm, 10 foot is 3m not 30m!!!
I would love to know wat actually caused the crash too. Was it just the speed or did other factors contribute? How about driver error, mechanical failure or poor roads. Obviously doing up to 140kph in many areas is insane however this looks to be a very one sided, poorly researched report.
They had just come from a night at the Kwinana Motorplex and were said to be racing another car and judging by the size of the front mount intercooler on the Lexus it would of been capable of some high speeds real quick.
Put simple some idiot has not only ruined his life and killed others he has got the cops thinking anything with a spoiler kit is a danger to society.

NOT IN THIS LIFETIME.
Let Carr, Bracks etc know what we think of their vehicle policies at your next election. They can only work us over if we let them, speak up and lobby hard.
The car in that accident was a Lexus IS200. It had a 2.5-litre twin turbo motor, in place of the original 2-litre motor. TThe driver had a number of police work orders for unauthorised or illegal modifications. Most recent was last month. If we all follow the law, then we can all enjoy our cars. But owners of cars, like this will see us off the road. The only law I don't support is the revenue camera law.
So basically we're talking about an idiot in a poorly modified car driving at inapproriate speeds.
Not some average guy in a nice car driving a few k's over the limit.
But we all know what type of person will cop the cost of the police backlash on this issue, yep, the average guy!
Must say there is a heap about it in the papers over here. Today on the front page we have a picture of one of the girl's families at the site of the crash mourning her death. Not cool, plus other relating articles inside.
Reading furthing into the paper our Police Minister said that anti-hoon laws can't come soon enough (like what Queensland has, confiscate cars for 3 months) from what I have gathered they will be passed by next year.
Not only that but they went on about people flaunting the law as people who had work orders issued (as with the Lexus) that they were simply unbolting the mods, passing the pits, then rebolting them back on and they are acting shocked that this was did not stop the fatal crash....well no sh!t (everyone rebolts on their mods after) but this will only help them add strength to bringing in anti-hoon laws. So I see it as being inevitable these laws comming.
Must say its been a bad few weeks over here in the west, guy I knew died in the Western Australian rally competition accident, my cousin's friend from up north was one who died in a 4x4 roll over and twins I know had one of their mates die who was changing a flat wheel on the freeway. R.I.P.
