Today I called in to Etheridge Ford of Ringwood to pick up a replacement Owners Manual for my uncle's AU1 Forte, was available no worries- at a price $73.05!!
I have no complaints about the staff there- excellent service and knowledge and very friendly, but I needed to get the book today and I had to pay the price- but I have been reimbursed, so I am not worried now!!!
The guy in front of me bought a bulb or something- the genuine Ford unit cost $40.00, the non genuine $20.00- talk about a difference!!
Anyone got any similar tales on Ford dealer spare parts rip offs, perhaps we can set a list of "Avoid at all costs rip-off dealers", prefer Melbourne,as that is where I live!!
The map reader / int light thingy was like $75 @ ford, $20 from wrecker, Clock $120 @ ford, $50 at wrecker (In perfect knick), and the rear footwell coutesy light lense, $35 from ford, that and 3 bulb holders $25 @ wrecker.
I only phone ford now just to make sure im not getting ripped, and ususally im pretty happy when i then phone the wrecker!
One day they will realize how much they are getting shat on in the market!
When i was seeking clear indicators for my EF fairmont, they wanted roughly $90 each side!!! (Indicator/panel around it/and bulb)
Terrible huh?
Also when i was looking for a bodykit the quote was well over 4grand. Turned to the aftermarket - $1056!
Had a light bulb changed in the dash (they did it part of service)..... $80 labour.
Now i take my car elsewhere.. Lantern Motors (east brunswick). The owner is a Ford Freak.. he owns a EL XR6.. So i cant go wrong!
try $120 for four plug leads for a mondeo. five aftermarket leads for the fiesta and a set of points cost $50.
