Question Rivalry amongst Ford's V8 teams.

ok.....being a relative novice amongst the V8 supercar ranks, I just wanted to ask one question (as I'm sure you guys know a hell of a lot more about V8s than I do).

Amongst the Ford camps (ie. GMS, Stone, DJR etc etc), is there a rivalry amongst them and if so, why is that? From an outsiders point of view (that's me about 6 monts ago), I just saw Ford teams working together to try and beat the Holden boys. I didn't know that there's this supposed rivalry amongst the teams themselves. Is it just constructive competition or something else (eg. getting more money from FoMoCo....).

Can someone please shed some light onto this? Thanks.

I guess rivalry is only natural between the teams, everbody wants to win races/championships. Sometimes it can be taken to far - an example was the race (can't remember which round or where it was) where Craig Lowndes and Marcos Ambrose were swapping paint on the last laps of the race while they were leading. My fingernails are still growing back after that one!

Rivalry exists in the Holdem casmp too. No love lost between the TWR teams and the rest of the Holden teams, especially LPR.

Every driver out there wants to win not only to further there career personally but also as I think racers are competitve people another car winning from the same brand doesn't really advantage them over one from another

The drivers are more concerned about winning for their team, naturally - but the perennial Ford/Holden battle still lies there somewhere. Most idiots on the road (majority Holden fans for some reason) seem to think if a Holden wins Bathurst, their car just kicks arse more or goes faster or something. What's the go with that? Those cars bear almost no resemblance to the ones you and I drive, apart from the body.

P.S. - Refer to the copious amounts of Holden ads, last year especially, that plug the commodore as the 'Winners' car, referring to the last round they won, or Bathurst or something.

"Hey man! My VX Luuuuumina (that's ooooooo) is a winner's car cause Skaifey won Bathurst! Drive the winner!"

Just quietly I hope Ford start doing the same thing when they win a few races this year. Be nice to see anyone knock off HRT though..

Not a truer word has been spoken! I'd love a dollar for very conversation with a Holden driver who believes that his car is quicker than anything on the road because a V8 supercar with Holden stuck on the shell has crossed the line first. These people probably think that the WWF is real because it's in colour. When a Ford wins I don't go out looking for Holdens to drag off. The closest thing my XR6 has with Glen Seton's car is that it has the same amount of head lights.
