I came across this website yesterday and it is quite good. To quote the front page:
Road Sense - the capacity for safe handling of vehicles on the road. (Australian Oxford Dictionary.)
Increasingly stringent enforcement of traffic controls are however forcing us to focus more on the speedometer than on the safe handling of our vehicles on the road.
An ever increasing number of motorists believe that the majority of accidents occur below the speed limit and that increasingly stringent speed limit enforcement is predominantly for revenue raising purposes.
If this is the case then tougher speed limit enforcement will unlikely reduce the road toll and may even be adding to it.
We never seem to be given consistent facts. When justification for more stringent enforcement is being promoted we are told the accident rate is increasing, even though tougher controls have not helped - and even more stringent controls are now required.
When it comes to election time we seem to hear that the accident rate is down. Through this site we hope to ascertain the facts.
I think we all should support this site (BTW I've got nothing to do with this site) and let other people know about it. With the way our governments are going with revenue cameras we need to start showing a united front and let them know we have had enough.
The reason few people are agreeable in conversation is that each is thinking more about what he intends to say than what the others are saying and we never listen when we are eager to speak.
