I must be a dodgy magnet. Every car I go to look at somehow seems to turn into a drama. The most recent installment involves a bloke advertising a red EB series 2 XR6 manual for $5950 in the trading post. I think gee whiz, it is in my price range and it reads ok in the ad.
I go out there to have a look (in a suburb about an hour and a half away by way of the munted cityrail network). Seems alright, meet the guy, he doesn't seem too bad. When i had asked him how long he had owned the car for on the phone he had said 3 weeks. 3 weeks?!?!
Uh huh...
Wen I saw him and the car I asked him why he bought it if he was only going to own it for three weeks. He said he once owned a car yard, but he had very recently sold it, and this was the last of the stock...
Ohh-kayy...
So then I ask him is this going to be a yard sale or a private sale, and he says it is going to be a yard sale! Good one! WTF! No dealer licence in the ad, no address for where he now lives (and where I presume his 'yard' is now situated), and this is the most dodgy thing of all, the number plate in the ad was different from the plates on the car!!!!!!!
Yes! Unfknblvble...
I was a good car though, a few dents and stuff, but mechanically well looked after it seems with a good history and stuff. So it is a pity that I had to make contact with the MTA to find out where I stood, the MTA unfortunately had to make contact with the office of fair trading, who is more than likely making contact with the dodgy bastard seller...
Plenty of the EB & ED XR6's around... just keep looking and u will find the right one... i waited about 4 months and looked at a few, but in the end it was all worth it!

I tried to buy a eb xr6 at auction the other week. Missed it at $4k. Saw it in the paper last week for $9k! Dealers must make a killing sometimes
I managed to get my EB2 Fairmont for $3k, so im happy.
The wait can pay off.
Wouldn't happen to be manual and pretty much stock standard? I think I rung the dealer about this car but decided to hold off on buying a XR6...but for $4K I would be able to easy afford...pm me jase about the best auction joints in Perth.
