I had to check it wasn't an early April Fools Day Story. In todays Courier Mail, "Rustling Leaves and excessive engine revving could be used by traffic officers to prove drivers have been exceeding the speed limit, a police policy document has revealed.
Apart from the movement of objects by the roadside, such as rubbish, leaves or road signs, police can consider excessive engine revving and "the sound of wind" being generated by the suspect vehicle to determine if a driver is speeding.
The document reads "Experience gained by an officer often results in the officer developing an ability to estimate speed of a moving vehicle with greater accuracy than the average person."
What next will they think up to rip motorists off? No wonder the police have lost respect.
