i think it'll change the way people look at it.
i know a lot of ppl say 'its cheap so i don't touch it'
only reason i go there is for LPG personally.
i reckon it'll make a difference.
Fuel prices rising again, no suprise :/

is this going to make it popular, or has Shell sales increased dramatically?
Why did PULP at Mobil jump as high as 1.09 ltr last Thursday?
Damm Fuel Companies!
I'm still not going to buy safeway fuel after the toluene (spelling?) debarcle the petrol company before it became safeway. If you follow that :)
I readily buy shell because I believe I can rely on its quality. Caltex would be next, but they have their own 'star-mart' branding. And I won't buy mobil after the shit they did to those small plane fuel issue with the avgas.
So basically i'll steer away from safeway plus outlets for now, i'll buy at almost any shell that has a regular flow of traffic (fresh fuel is good fuel), i'll buy at BP ultimate (thats another story) and some caltex outlets (only vortex gold) if I have to.
Optimax = BP Ultimate but they have interesting effects on my car's engine.
Optimax I find the engine rev's nicely straight away.
BP Ultimate I find that initally it produces more torque but the car doesn't rev as nicely (a friend of mine says the same thing with his MG F). But if I rev the engine in neutral for a bit (take it to 4k+rpm) and then it seems to free up and mainains its lower torque over optimax.
Shame its easier to find optimax than bp ultimate for me :)

BA XR6 - December 2002 ~ Soon to disappear if Ford CRC can't fix it....
45,000km service coming up - and i'll be asking for a sizable list of fixes:
* Gearbox (3rd time)
* Steering click (5th time)
* Brake Shudder (2nd time, and has the applied "Fix")
* etc...
Well, safeway have been getting their fuel from some dodgey asian country (cant remember which one) and with the new rules governing pollution and stuff, safeway wouldnt have been able to keep selling it. They applied for an exemption for 2 years from the new rule start date, but were denied.
I guess thats the main reason they hooked up with caltex.

Damm Fuel Companies!
Here in Tassie, Woolworths (safeways) have their fuel delivered by the Mobil distributor, so I gather its Mobil fuel.
As for $1.09 for PULP last friday, well is that 95 or 98RON
ere we have been paying a $ 1.12 for 95RON for the last 2 weeks

The caltex down the road has a sign saying there is no ethanol in their petrol, is that true?
Well if its not you can sue them under the TPA act for false advertising or common law for unmerchantable product. Most of the ethanol fuels over 10% were the independants anyway.
Its been too soon for Shell's little CM deal to have an impact on consumers; actually they have been pretty quiet about the deal; its had pretty poor marketing time. This Joint Venture between Caltex and Woolies is just a retallationary manuvere, better to start up a JV now than wait for a clear market leader to come through.
It just wouldn't have ethanol - the government does random inspections of service stations anyway. Take their word on it - if, for some reason that the fuel did contain ethanol, they would be exposed to serious fines and the like.
Woolworths website states:
Quote:
No Ethanol In Woolworths Fuel: Woolworths Petrol would also like to assure our customers that we do not add ethanol to any fuel sold from Woolworths petrol sites. All fuel sold from outlets complies with all quality requirements specified by the Commonwealth Government in Environment Australia's "Fuel Standard (Petrol) Determination 2001"

If you read that correctly it states that woolworths petrol outlets do not add ethanol to the petrol that they sell
But it doesnt state that the fuel is 100% ethanol free so who ever the supplier is can/may add ethanol and other nasties and also thereis no regulation on the ethanol content in fuel at the present moment many parties are try to get a 10% max level as well as a large ethanol producer who is trying to get it mandatory 10% in all types of petrol
