This looks very nice indeed - pricey - but nice. Has anyone heard of a ford equivalent - ie, one that looks this good??

That's a shame if its the case. I think there's a massive market for people who want a ute, but find them too impractical.

I have fond memories of my old man's panel van (I think it was a HK - I'm too young to know cars from the 70's ). More than anything it was great for travelling.

I see no need for Ford to bring one out, looks pretty poor IMO. Not my cup of tea. I wasn't alive during the sandman stage of life so it doesn't appeal.

True that. Also this "reborn Sandman" is still just a ute with a canopy anyway (albiet a very stylish and well integrated one). Although I think back in the 70's the panel vans were effectively just utes with steel canapies added in the factory. If Holden removed the ute rear window divide and made it an actual model rather that a ute option (expensive one at that) than it would make more sense. I think maybe Holden are testing the water before designing the next all-new ute as a pano from the start.

A Falcon XR ute with a quality canopy is Fords equivalent, and a very good one at that!

I haven't seen pics of the inside of production models, but the original show car was more than the canopy ( http://www.pressroom.com.au/fcai/ima...s/00sms03s.jpg ). It doesn't hold anywhere near the same appeal if its just a ute with a canopy!

Anyone got links to reasonable ford canopies?

it's a big wank It's just a ute with a canopy the last real pano was the XH
