Hey ive just signed up my ADSL with iinet but i just wanna find out how everyone is scheduling their downloads.

I want Kazaa to start at midnight and finish at 6am but ive tried Xp's task scheduler and the thing is it starts kazaa but it doesnt close the program at the time I specify.

Any ideas?

I don't know all that much about the task scheduler, but can you get it to close your internet connection at 6?

naa i cant because my adsl is running through a router.

Maybe look at downloading a third party utility that will force-quit Kazaa at the time you specify. You should be able to throw it into a batch file and schedule it to run and 6am. Thats if the program doesnt have a schedule function.

How proficient are you with computers? If you know a bit more than the average Joe you can use the kill command (found in the Win2k Resource Kit) to kill Kazaa. What you need to do is find out Kazaa's process ID (in Task Manager or the ps command and then write a batch job to kill that process ID and use Task Sceduler to execute it at a given time.

Or...

take xf_xr6's suggestion further. Get yourself a power timer and plug your ADSL modem into it and have the timer cut power when you want it to.

Or... (But wait, there's more!)

Get a hold of the shutdown command (again on the Win2k Resource Kit) and use Task Scheduler to shutdown your PC.

I tried using pskill to kill kazaa and it works sweet!
So I just used task scheduler to start kazaa at one time and then wrote a small batch file that uses pskill.
