Selling EA - some advice please - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I'm trading in my trusty ol' EA and was wondering if I fix any of the following, I might be able to wring a few extra dollars from the trade:

1. Spot of rust under the tail light (about a 10mm hole).
2. Drivers seat has a small rip where it has worn through.
3. Hole burnt in carpet from spotlight (about 100mm diameter of melted carpet).
4. Fresh/Recycle air switch doesn't work.
5. Front doors have a hole where the crossover was.
6. Hole in centre console where the equaliser was.
7. Stains on seat (not telling what from...)
8. Spotlights don't work.

Other than that, the bodys straight, paints crazed but ok, runs good.

Do you think fixing any of this will get me any better results on the trade in??

Any suggestions of what to do when trading in a car??

To be honest, I doubt it would matter, a dealer would at best offer $1k for an EA no matter what the condition. So I wouldnt even bother washing it for them.

But if you want to sell it privately, fixing some of the easy things should get you a bit more.

I think you would be spending more on the car than you would get back in value

Though, if you can find some cheap fixes for holes stains and cuts outs go for it., ie cheap seat covers, carpet squares secured down by screws etc, plastic insert where eq was... might help

Then best thing you could do is clean it as best as possible.

repairing the smaller details wont get you more money for it initially, however money may exchange hands a little easier.
