Hi just remembering September the 14th..
Before this date about 1700 years ago the crucifix was not a symbol of the christian faith..The fish ,lamb and the likes were the earliest symbols of the christian faith...At around 300 ad a roman general Constantine marched on to Rome to conquer the existing governmet and take it over.On his way there he saw a vision in the sky of a crucifix.He ordered his men to paint the symbol of the cross on their shields as he beleived that it would protect them.They marched into Rome defeated the existing government and made Christianity legal..and they were not illegal anymore and hence not put to death...
Some years later he summonsed on his mother to go on a holy mission to Jerusalem and find the cross of Jesus Christ at the site of Golgotha where Jesuswas crucified.His mothers name was Helena...she went on her mission and excavated the site..where she found what was beleived to be the true cross of Jesus's crucifix.The head piece wher e his crimes were written and name were found and are today held in Rome at the Vatican and have been authenticated by modern linguists and historians to be the true authentic item.
The date of the raisng of this cross 250 years after his crucifixion.. was remembered correctly at September the 14th and this was birth of the symbol of the cross..
