Yesterday, September 11, all the shell servos from my place all the way into the city had bumped their petrol prices up to 105.7c/l. EVERY single one of them. Now tell me how to justify that!
All these stations are run by Nexecon Pty Ltd. They can expect a phone call from AP today telling them what I think about that!
Had to buy Mobil Premium 95.9c/l (out of principal!) and now have to drive gently so car doesn't have detonation. :oo1:
On september 11 Shell conveniently launched a terrorist attack on our wallets!

The fact that all 27 service station within a 2km radius of me put their prices up to the exact same number at lunch time on Thursday is merely a coincidence caused by the cosmic realignment of the planets - or something like that. After all the ACCC has held about a million dollars worth of enquiries into this exact subject and if they can't find anything wrong then it must be right.
Must go and buy myself one of those crystal things that is supposed to realign the atoms in the atmosphere and see if I can change it.
The price of oil has been creeping up lately, it peaked at just over US$30 a barrell yesterday but I agree this isn't a justification for all the servos to put their prices up by 10c or more a litre overnight.
The oil companies claim that for the most part of the time they are in fact "discounting" the fuel and when the price jumps up 10c or so a litre this is simply the end of their discounting cycle. The ACCC has been investigating the oil companies of late in relation to price collusion but I have not heard anything about it for a while so I don't know if it is still on or has died a natural death.
The only thing you can do is be like AP and buy from another servo that isn't as pricey.

You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen. It said, 'Parking Fine.'So that was nice.
Last Friday, I think it was I went out to get some petrol to my dismay They had all gone up to about 95 cents except for one lone independent who was still sitting at 84.5, I promptly filled up (crappy unleaded) and went to pay, I mentioned to him geez its good to see you have not put your prices up yet. "Why he asked?" Well everyone else is about 95 cents. I paid and left as I was driving off he had already left his register to raise the price. What a great bloke!

I liked the idea that the Servos have to give 24hrs notice and justicfition when they are going to put there prices up.
There was talk about this a couple of years ago but I think the government doesn't want this because they make so much money for taxes. A tax on a tax (GST on fuel excise) great idea. Lets get em for as much as we can, We'll put speeding tickets up damn near 100% because the number of people speeding is dropping and drop the tollerence down so we make too expencive to drive. They we can charter planes to take us from Essendon to Geelong. How much of these taxes do you think get spent back on the roads? Not much I'm betting.
Cheers
Ben
P.s Cheers Labour for showing me who NOT to vote for in the next state election.

I was filling up the other day @Shell and noticed that the pumps all had signs on them saying how Majority of your petrol price is TAX.
I have also noticed in Canberra, that being a majority of the populate actually working for the government and beiong paid on the same day, you will notice petrol prices rise around pay day. and drop in the off pay weeks,
go figure.
