SHHMIK's new heart!!!!! NOW WITH PICS

Well, it has been a long time coming, but it is nearly over.
For those of you that don't know, i have built a new motor for my pride and joy. Starting in March, it is all but in.
Here is an overview of what was done:

302W stroked to 347
Race Harmonic Balancer
H-Beam rods
Forged Pistons
Roush big port heads
Custom Cam
Shaft Roller Rockers
Edelbrock Vctr Jnr Manifold
40lb bosch injectors
Carby style throttle body - equivalent to 92mm.
AU front end - power steering, water pump, alternator, tensioner etc.
AU Multicoils
Wolf 3D to run it all.

That's the engine side of things.
I also took the liberty of upgrading the fuel system and clutch.
The fuel system consist of the following:
10G fuel cell - fully polished
All #8 braided fuel lines.
Inline fuel filter.
Carter lift pump
5 ltr swirl pot
Bosch 044 high pressure supply pump.

Anyway, got the engine of the engine dyno last week. After a bit of tuning and playing, i am proud to announce that the beast is putting out the following figures:

447hp (340kw) @ 6200 and 6300
417 ft-pd (565nm) @ 5000.

I'm am very, very happy to say the least. The best bit is that they reckon it will gain another 20HP or so once the engine gets some more km's under it.

I have heaps of pics, but won't be able to get them up until next week, as i am flat out trying to get the engine in and going in the car for the sprint at Phillip Island this Saturday.

A BIG thanks to Mick Webb at Mick Webb's SVO for building the engine and spending long nights at the moment to get the beast in the car. I can't wait to drive it

Cliff

Re: SHHMIK's new heart!!!!!

G'day SHHMIK

I was thinking for the next performance gain you could bolt in a cheap (Bond Roll Bars) 6 point cage. This would let you run slicks instead of treaded tyres.

Let us know what you pulled at PI (my guess is around or under 2:00 minutes) and speed just before turn 1. I'm sure that the HSV guys will be surprised with the cars performance.

Re: SHHMIK's new heart!!!!!

Thanks guys.

Yeah, REV28K, i desperately want to run slicks, but i currently run the Bridgestone RE540S. Those tyres have some serious grip, took 4.5 seconds off my laptimes at Sandown instantly.
Anyway, hoping for under 2minutes at PI, as i ran 2:05 there last year with Dunlop SP9000 and 180kw engine.
Should surprise a few people anyway.

Awesome SHHMIK

I can still remeber Winton with the car having trouple keeping the actual wheels on!!!

Be great to see her in the flesh!

Have you used the same body, done any mods there?

Re: SHHMIK's new heart!!!!!

Thanks Laminge,

Yeah, keeping the same body, no mods as yet, just minor suspension mods to get the traction i need. Eventual plans are to have full roll cage put in though.
I remember winton well, damn well shat my pants when the rear wheel started wobbling. All my alloy wheels now have metal inserts in them, so shouldn't happen again! haha, we'll see i suppose.

Hope i don't warp the chassis too much before the roll cage with all the torque though. Otherwise i'll have to get another shell.

Re: SHHMIK's new heart!!!!!

Just to let you all know. The car made it to the island, and back in one piece.
It was absolutely awesome, i can't get the smile off my face. The engine ran faultlessly all day, no leaks and ran cool.

Highlights of the day was passing a new XR6 turbo like it was standing still, passing a 300kw Monaro on the front straight, and passing a GT and a 400 HP Mustang.

Anyway, enough of the bragging, i ended up with a best lap of 1 min 57.39 sec. Very happy with that, the potential is there to go faster, as that is only the second time i have been to the track, and the fact that i was still trying to run in the engine (i've only done 130Kms in the car with it!!! hahahaha). Anway, speed into corner one was around 245km/h, going by the revs.

Will post pics later in the week.

Cheers,
Cliff.
