My friend is selling is XF ute (or whatever model it is). It used to be propelled by a 700hp methonal Cleveland and runs 9's at the Motorplex (If your in Perth you probably know of this ute!)

It obviously doesn't have the drag engine anymore, but its got a stout clevo good for 12's (I think he said), all the fruit, 9" diff, all ready for unleaded, FMX with 10 inch converter etc.

I can pick it up for a rather good price, but I'm not sure what to do as I really wanted a newer injected car, and a manual ! (Hense I was looking at an EL2 XR8 or EB GT)

The thing is, I don't really like utes. Well, I do like utes, I just wouldn't really buy one. You know, cos of all the chicks I need to carry around (haha)

What you guys reckon I should do ? Get the ute or just keep waiting for a EL2 manual to pop up (XR8 manuals in perth are basically don't exist!). This ute is a sweet car !

Pros of the ute: Fast, good price, all the fruit, cars got history and is known.
Cons of ute: Its a ute, auto, its cleveland powered (had to add that to piss off DK and smincer1

Really not sure what to do.... :(

Hmm. How ugly is insurance, and how good a deal is it ? If its good enough that you might make money on it, you might as well get it for a while, have some fun then ditch it and get something more permanent. If your 21, you've probably got the freedom to have a non-practical car for a while....
Oh, and is it all properly engineered / legal ? Not much fun to buy a car, then have grief with it . . .

Are you shopping interstate for an XR . . . or have you thought of trying a broker ?

I say, go the ute for a while. You can pick up EL Xr8's anytime, but its rare for a 12sec ute to pop up. Have fun with the ute killing some hsv butt then sell it, you shouldnt lose much considering someone else has done the work on it, then get yourself your daily XR8. At least then you will always know you owned that ute and not feel like you wished you had taken it.

The ute sounds like a neat machine, however it does sound like it isn't what you really want.
If in doubt, don't do it, wait and buy what you really want.
