Should I pay for an RTA mistake??? - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I went to pay the rego on my ute today.

With my pink slip and green slip in hand, I went to the counter, to try and pay for rego.

I asked the lady to print out a new rego paper (the thing with the sticker on it) as the one I received in the mail had a mistake on it.
The Year model on the rego paper says 1994. It is a 1996 model.

She informed me she could not make that correction without an inspection on the car.

I showed her the pink slip that had "1996" on it, but she would not accept this.

I told her that all the previous rego papers I have say 1996, and she would not accept this.

She then went on about the details cant "just change by themselves", and if I really did believe that my ute was a 1996 model, I would have to get a blue slip to confirm the new details.

I told her the car has always been a 1996 model car, as it was bought brand new in 1996, so why did I need a blue slip to "change car details" if there was no change in the car (just a mistake on the rego forms)

Anyways... She refused to do the rego on my car until I can provide a blue slip to prove my car is a 1996 model.

I just went through all the previous rego papers I could find (I got one for 1997, 1998 and 2000) and they all say 1996.

Should I have to pay to get a blue slip because there is 1 mistake on the rego paper??

Time to take those other rego papers back in and demand to talk to a manager I think!!!

If you have all the old papers then surely you have the upper hand now!

oh yeah... she told me that the rego paper cant just have a mistake on it. "It never happens" is what she said.

I told her that it has happened to my ex's car twice!! (one year he had a 5.0L, the next it was a 4.0L, (which they corrected) and then the when he changed plates shortly after - they listed it as a 4.0L again)

In the end she was being really rude to me, and implying that I am lying about the year of manufacture on my car.

When I was leaving , she said "in the highly unlikely event that the blue slip shows that your car is infact a 1996 model, and that this is a mistake on the computer, you can apply to get the cost of your blue slip refunded to you."

Its all part of a conspiracy to annoy her. Some people are just forehead slap inducing.

With those other rego papers assuming you have had no eng cert changes in the last year they will do the right thing I am sure if ... if you talk to someone in charge. I am a fairly mild camper until I get some steam up but this would have me turning red!!

"I would like ot speak to your manager about this ridiculous and predjidical treatment I am being subjected to here!"

Loud enough for a few to here!!

Should get results! Hell or at least a good laugh as she turns red!

kelli go get the blue slip and try get the same lady and shove it up her noise.
Then say there you stupid B$#&H it's 96 model ute.then have her pay it from her own money.

Go back with the rego slips and try and get them to fix, then ask for supervisor, then go get a gun.

I dont want to have to get a blue slip... its not the money thing - its the principle of the whole thing.

And - I am not about to go postal at the RTA.

I'm fairly sure the V.I.N number will prove it! Atleast the date of manufacter.. I have the same thing with my WRX it says 95 but they insisted it is a 94,,So 94 it is then...Reason ..it had 94 on the rear tail light!! Fairdinkum... VIN or Sido # and Talk to manufacterer..or dealer...Kelli save the $$$ for car!!

Take the old rego papers in, and see what they say. and look unless your going to sell the car I wouldnt worry about it.
