mad Smacktard (tm) Drivers

I don't normally whinge about other drivers, but today a Commodore driver took both of our lives in his hands with his idiocy.

I was driving home on a narrow road thru a forest, came across a Commodore P Plater doing about 80 or so in the 100 zone. It was a pretty stocker looking car, so I checked the road ahead, indicated, and started passing it.

Fortunately I was in a fairly pumped up mood from work, so I had the car in third and was winding past 4 thou RPM when I realised the idiot had planted his foot and was trying to race me. There were oncoming cars ahead, and this stage my rear bumper would have been at his front bumper. The Focus pulls pretty well at high revs and managed to clear the Commo before I had to merge back into the correct lane, obviously because I already had a run on him (this isn't a Focus can out run a Commodore post).

I kept my foot down to clear the car, and he stayed with me to about 140 or so, but eventually backed off, I think his girlfriend was going nuts at him in his car.

In a situation like that, it would have required violent braking to slow down to get behind his car (especially if he slowed down to block me further), when normally I would have cleared the car without a thought. Actions like are just plain stupid, especially if there was an accident, I'd probably be landed the blame - is word against mine, and the consquences of an accident would have been so high (swerving off the road would have gone straight into trees).

He wins my Smacktard (tm) Award for this month.

Tim

Re: Smacktard (tm) Drivers

As a commodore driver I've even had similar incidents, the worst being overtaking a VN exec one sunday morning when they accelerated. I ended up past 150 with them sitting on my bumper untill I decided to put the foot down some more. They started dropping off rapidly and had no hope of sticking with me. Nice straight road, no intersections, no traffic (except for that VN) and a clear view of the 2 driveways (so no surprises). Sat on **more than 100 KMH** for 1 km until I backed it off....

Re: Smacktard (tm) Drivers

It's not fair to label commodore drivers like that.

Seen many of Ford drivers be the same way , doing burnouts, being arse holes, its people, not the badge.

Re: Smacktard (tm) Drivers

Ive seen all sorts doing stupid stuff like that, boys girls old and young... all idiots that have no respect for others lives..... like yesterday a stolen car ( just happened to be a VB ) rammed into a BMW at an intersection, the BMW driver is in critical but stable condition, tho the driver of the VB did die, but still bloody stupid

and that more than 100 kph on a public road, shame on you.
