Smoke pot to drive better, government adviser tells.

Confusingly, Professor Jack MacLean of the University of Adelaide - talking on the subject of speed and safety - has controversially suggested that cannabis affects performance but perhaps favourably by reducing risk taking.

"Marijuana smokers are more cautious," MacLean claims. "They drive more slowly because of their altered time perception

********His comments on cannabis must be a huge embarrassment for state governments which embraced the same academic's research outcomes on the relationship between speed and car crashes.***********

His findings raise a question: what is the likelihood of crashing when doing 65kmh in a 60kmh zone while stoned? (While state governments ponder the accuracy and wisdom of his determinations on cannabis, perhaps they'd like to review some of MacLean's research on speed.)

I look forward to the RTA handing out joints with every speeding fine!!! Suddenly the academics view makes sense!! Yes pull people over if they are speeding, then give them a joint or make them take a puff of the random bong test (RBT) and send them on there merry way..

What the hell? Drive giving ford awesome reviews! Drive getting behind debunking the speed myth! What next?

Soon-to-be-ex-Professor Jack Maclean of the University of Adelaide ...
A very silly statement he has made and I think there will be a handful of people who will remind him of that fact in a fairly nasty way!

He must have supply to pretty crap gear.. I partially recall the last time I got ratted a number of years back, I had to watch TV with one eye closed because I was seeing double, and it wasn't like your 'I've just polished off a keg and a few bottles of bourbon seeing double', it felt like one eye was pointing forwards and one eye pointing backwards. I wasn't trusted to go to the kitchen for a munchy raid as it ended up in mass spillage the first time.

Would have been safe behind the wheel though, would have just passed out after several hours of trying to put the key into the ignition.

You could likely say the same about alcohol consumption in that rate and type affects you differently, but at least we have a quantitative method of determining your blood alcohol level. Maybe a test could be devised using tim tams and the amount consumed in a 60 second period....?

Of cause they would be cautious, trying not to get caught smoking the stuff in the first place would make anyone cautious.
