Forgot about it. So I take it the result wasn't good!.

As I don't follow soccer, how many game s did we have to win?

the teams play 2 games, one in each country. The winner is who has the most goals by the end of both games. The away team's goal is actually worth 2 goals, as Australia got 1 goal to nothing in Melbourne, uraguay got 3 gaols in montevideo so australia only needed 1 goal to equalise. It goes by aggregate, so the final result after both games was Uruguay 3 - Australia 1.

Yeah I got up for it.. Started reading magazine's at the start of the second half too.. Terrible game. Just plain bloody terrible.

2 legs Ian. One here in Oz and one over there. Winner goes through on aggregate goals with away goals being worth twice what home goals are.

The away goal = 2 goals rule only works if the aggregate after both games is drawn level.

For example, if the score was 2-1 in Montevideo, Australia wins 2-2 on aggregate. If it was 3-1, the aggregate is 3-2 and Australia still loses.

Australia are world champions in cricket, rubgy league, rubgy union (not playing like it now...), hockey, swimming, etc etc etc etc etcm which for a country with a population of less than 20 million is awesome. We can't win everything...yet!
