Hey all,

well I said goodbye to my car....and now I am looking for another. I am in no rush, so I can wait. My dad offered me his au s2 xr6 vct for about 20k - its all stock and done 58k. But I dont want to spend that much on a car atm....I am only 20 and no one will insure me on that car (have already rung around) anyhow

What do you guys think I should do...there are heaps of EF and EL fairmont/ghias at the auctions and am considering one of these...but these are real hard to come by in manual, so I may have to settle for a gli or futura...as much as I love ea-ed's i couldnt get another one (already been through 2 and my brother just bought another!!!!)


What are the main differences between EF/EL fairmonts and ghias...is one better than the other...will one respond better to cam and exhaust upgrades?

The Ghia has the XR6 motor and LSD from EF2 onwards im pretty sure.

The reason why EF/EL Fairmonts/Ghias are so rare in manual is because there aren't any!

What about a manual EF XR6? Would have to stretch the budget a bit further tho for one in good nic.

I'm after one later on and I hardly see any up for auction.

hot_eb, only if you were in Perth. My mum is going to sell her EL Futura in the very near future. 97 model with wait for it ..... 85 000km on it!! It's pretty much unmarked all round.
