Our local council is having a clean up tomorrow so I put a few items out on the front yard to be taken away.
As soon as I turned my back my old garden chairs and a few other things had disappeared, no worries they are welcome to them.
I just had a knock at the door from a Women who asked me if the tele I placed out there was working as she wanted it for her kids bedroom.
One, I wouldn't have put it out if it wasn't. I'm not in the habit of throwing away perfectly good 68cm TVs.
Two, she is under an umbrella as it is absolutely pi$$ing down out there. It isn't covered and I would have hated to think what would have happened if she had taken it home and turned it on.
As I walked away shaking my head in disbelief, I hear another knock on the door. It's the same Women asking if any of the other electrical items work.
No, I'm not in the habit either of throwing out perfectly good Microwave ovens, VCRs and Computer scanners.
As an electrican I can only wonder about people who have no concept that water and electricity don't mix.

well.....did she take the tv??
id love one in my room
LOL
No she didn't, but I noticed that the VCR and Scanner have gone.
I hope no one tries to sue me for any deaths that may occur out of their own stupidity.
It makes me laugh that I live in a suburb where house prices start at $450 000 and run into the Millions, yet as soon as some garbage is placed out in the street, they go through it to see what can be taken.
You know what the funniest thing is?
I put out a perfectly good vacuum cleaner that I didn't want anymore and it is still there! Yet the junk is gone.

heh, its getting very common in sydney now - the "kerbside krawlers"(TM). Around the council cleanup time, utes, light trucks and vans start patrolling looking for stuff to take ( and presumably re-sell ).
Its amazing, you'll see maybe 6 a day pass my place during clean-up time (and I live in a place where mormon / jw's are still yet to find ).
Any electrical gear I throw out, I have a policy of chopping off the cord / plug, to prevent anyone idly plugging in any possibly broken (or soggy) junk... These days you can never tell when your going to end up with a law suit
