confused some technical type questions

1. how do you change the text of a url you have added as a link? for example, if i pasted in
http://www.osella.com.au/the_works_escorts.htm
but wanted it to read "hot escorts" or similar, how do you overwrite the text?

2. i am considering broadband. iinet offer a $50 per month service, which seems pretty good. anyone else have broadband and have any recommnedations / warnings / advice?

3. never been into a chat room before in my life. how do i get into the ff chat room? do i need special software etc?

thanks muchly :-)

Ok.

1. You need to enter the URL by either:
a) clicking the "http://" button in the 'reply to topic' page, or

b) you can type (URL=http://ADDRESS GOES HERE)TEXT(/URL) but you will need to replace all the ( and ) with [ and ].

2. $50 is pretty cheap... do you get much downloads? careful with ISPs that say things like that, then hit you with big charges for downloads. Ask them how much downloads your allowed for the $50 and then what the charge is for any download after that. Then calculate how much you would download regularly.

3. The instructions for setting up chat are here somewhere.. I think in the pub, and their quite easy to follow (Thanks to DK) but you'll need to download mIRC first from www.mirc.com or www.download.com or something like that.

Good Luck!

1 - Already answered for you...

2 - I think you'll find iiNet is unlimited download?? The only catch you will find with this is you still have your monthly limit, 1-3gb(if not more), but after that the download is extremely slow... slower than that of a 56k modem. Not a real problem really...

I have broadband(ADSL) through telstra. The only problems I have had with it is some instances when I couldn't log onto ff(bastards!!) and when i very first got it all hooked up, the main server was down, so i had to wait about 5 days for them to fix it..... but apart from that its all good.

And another downside is if after using it for a couple of months, then go to your mates house and use the net with his 56k, you get annoyed at how slow it is.

I reckon definately go for the broadband through iiNet, $50 a month isn't much... laughing!!!
