Some of you may already know but I only found out recently that Ford sends a letter to their dealers every 6 - 12 months which are a list of parts that the dealer must dump (BRAND NEW PARTS!!! )
A parts guy from Houghton Ford told me this ( I can mention their name since they don't exist anymore ) he said that when a truck load of parts goes to the rubbish tip one person from the dealership has to stand there and watch a bulldozer run over the parts before he can sign a document confirming the destruction of those parts.
If a dealership does not comply it's a $50 000 fine from Ford.

It's no wonder once a car gets to a certain age parts are getting obselete and here's me thinking they just run out because they cease production when a certain model is finished.

Why dont they make this list public and sell all the part REALLY REALLY REALLY cheap... it would be better than getting them all squashed!!

For eg.... if they said that the shifters from EA - ED falcons where going to be dumped before March 2002, but gave us the opportunity to buy them at say $5 or $10... then they make money... and we are happy!!

Oh... and when they start "dumping" TS50 bits.... can someone let me know!!

That's when I asked the spare parts guy why don't they sell it to businesses such as Rare Spare etc. and he said that if some part fails Ford would still be responsible even for cars that are 20 years old ( one of the reasons ) so they get rid of them but they don't get rid of all the parts they've made.
Shit! they even dumped Turbochargers that came out of Telstars!

Reduced inventory, improved balance sheets, maybe some tax credits.......
