I have a AUII XR6 HP, is it limited to 180km? If so why does my speedo have 240km printed on it?? Is it marketing??? do speedo's refelect the top speed of the car , if they don't then why have them going to a speed a car cannot do

My guess is marketing. People like big numbers :)

The XA GTs have 8000rpm tachos despite the fact that the owners manual says any warranty would be voided if you revved it over 6000.

Applying the same to speedos, most cars have speedos that show unacheivable speeds.

Your car will go past 180km/h. My Brothers EF XR6 goes past it!

You people do know that the speed limit is 110km/h don't you

I have assumed all these speed tests have been done in the NT or on racetracks, right?

Haha who's going to drive out to the Northern Territory just so they can fang their car? Just go down to the drags or find a quite bit of road...

AU XR6 HP's don't have speed limiters. That's regardless of the tranny.

It is interesting to note that the audible limiter goes all the way out to 200.

Mum's merc speedo goes out to 180. At approx 120 the car starts shaking, so don't take the top speed of the speedo to be the top speed of most cars. Not sure about the XR6 HP, though. Then again my chances of finding out are slimmer than driving a Holden, so to speak.
