Tolerance as in the Public Acceptance of them?

W.A - well, every single person i know who drives reckons the cops put them in locations where its hard to maintain speed (IE at the bottom of a hill, thats how my mum got caught). So, generally no-one likes em. Ive also seen someone put a sign up about 50m before the Speed Camera saying "You are just about to Enter a Speed Camera Zone" :D

No I didn't get caught in any of the states, but I am curious to know what the speed "tolerance" is in those states. In Vic. it suposed to be 3 kph, which is ridiculious, but in QLD I think it may be 10%

The tolerance for cameras in NSW is 10%, I think this is actually a country wide thing.

Like Vic, you can legally be booked at 3km over the limit in NSW, however the Police generally allow 5km.

Stationary cameras in NSW are set at 10% by the RTA. NSW Police have nothing to do with them. (66 in a 60)

The VMSC (stationary car) is set by the Police operator. Usually set at the same tolerance as the mobile radar in the car. Most of these are about 15% (75 in a 60,117 in a 100, only a guide mind you, depends on the operator)

In Victoria it seems that their tolerance is set at 3%. God knows how, but that is what the private contractor is told to do by the State Govt.

Thumbs down Vic road laws ridiculous!

Hi all.

It seems that the Victorian government suck diddly ucks.
I haven't been to Victoria for ages, but seem to be very restrictive with their road rules and mostly this seems to be for revenue raising purposes.

I could understand it if it were for safety, but really, getting booked for 3 km per hour over the limit is just bloody ludicrous. Some police cars and other emergency vehicles would probably have their speedos out by more than 3ks (unless they have just been calibrated of course...)

I dunno, I guess the point of this message is that I'm glad to be living in SA (as boring as it may be here!!!)

It may look good and it may be good, but it's rubbish!

I received $332 worth of fines on my recent 8300km journey to the SMS, Indy and a few other places. One was in NSW on the Pacific hwy whilst overtaking some cars at 7pm (NSW time) and the other was in QLD at 7:30pm (QLD time) in the middle of nowhere. Both fines were given by mobile radar. I accept it's my fault for speeding in the first place, but when traveling over 1000km a day it's a bit hard not to exceed the limit some times, esp at night with less traffic is on the roads. The $ doesn't bother me so much, it's just the waiting 3 years to get my points back that pisses me off .

BTW what's with all the fixed speed camera's in NSW, esp in small towns?
And why were half of the camera's I saw signs covered up?
