Speed Camera's in the Tunnel

At first, I must admit I thought that was a stupid question, I take that back.

I'ave always wondered to myself how they deal with:
A truck with 3 sets of wheels or more
I've noticed theyre not independant for each side of the road..
so what happens if two falcons front wheels cross just a millionth of a second behind the other in two differnt lanes... would this not trigger a car travelling at several thousand kph??

Wondering..

The Bastards. I loved the harbour tunnel, The eastern distributor is bad enough. You spend so much time looking at you bloody speedo because its so downhill.

I HATE SPEED CAMERAS, THEIR SO USELESS ANYWAY

mad

The worst part about these cameras (& thet are accurate enough to detect the cars each lane & travelling in a line; damn digital technology) in these tunnels are that are in breech of the RTAs own guidelines!
These tunnels are not accident black spots, according to the RTAs own statistics on their web page!! There only purpose is revenue raising!!
Take it from someone busted in the ED's downhill 4 lane wide camera blitz

Yes you are correct, however, the cameras were placed in the tunnel purely to stop the idiots from racing through the tunnel. When it was first opened these clowns set up the TTTT club (Two Hundred Through The Tunnel club) They were putting peoples lives at risk through their own stupidity. I don't like speed cameras as much as anyone but I do like these ones. The only other option was speed humps and they would have been even more unpopular as well as not practical.

Point taken Jamie but you can get idoits that the TTTT Club anywhere. Point is that the authorities continue to claim that cameras are for safety not revenue raising but dare I say one third of the sites are chosen for their traffic volume, rather than accidents?

You will get no arguement from me on that one! I totally agree that cameras set at the bottom of a hill or in the middle of nowhere is revenue raising. Just look at the one on the Spit bridge.

The tunnel can be scary enough at the best of times, I travel in it 2 times a day at all times of the day and night and have seen some idiots. There isn't a great deal of room in there for mistakes and when you are trying to get home after working into the small hours, the last thing you want is some wanker passing you doing over 200 kph to video tape his speedo to show his mates.
