Speed trap blitz to save children

Full article here - http://www.dailytelegraph.news.com.a...E21302,00.html

EXTRA speed cameras will be set up outside schools as part of a campaign to stop the rising number of children killed by reckless driving.

Yesterday's announcement came as the mother of eight-year-old Jodie Hewes – who was crushed between two cars outside her school – pleaded with motorists to take greater care.

I'm deeply saddened to hear that this child was killed but I fail to see how a speed camera would of stopped this happening. The article quite clearly states that the child "was crushed between two cars", it certainly doesn't sound like it was caused by a speeding driver. It sounds like another parent who was dropping off their kid to school was the culprit, and possibly the mother of the child contributed as well by being in between the cars. Don't schools have crossings? Why weren't the yusing that? Sorry if this seems harsh but I'm sick and tierd of the govt blaming every traffic accident on speed when quite clearly speed had nothing to do with it. It's just a case (yet another) of blatant revenue raising.

You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen. It said, 'Parking Fine.'So that was nice.

Its all to do with statistics, and its really frustrating to see theyre being used in the wrong way - like this article.

I have no problem with this as I am truly one of the few that never speeds in school zones.

However, tell me one thing about these stupid Police/Pollies. That kid was crushed between two cars, the one last week was reversed on by a 4WD. So they set up a speed camera blitz??? Am I missing something here?? Am I? Really?
