Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are of this album.
At first I wasn't overly impressed, but it has grown on my heaps and its certainly nice and heavy.
Highlights for me would be Invisible Kid, Some Kind of Monster, Shoot me Again and The unnamed feeling. What do others think?

Havent heard the album but I have heard the song. IMO Metallica have turned soft and are going for a more catchy sound. The new stuff isnt anywhere near as complex as their older albums...they're definitely going for something more simple and catchy. As far as i'm concerned their best production was the "Black" album.

Listened to the special MMM did on it last night (had Larz (sp) on the line, doubtful it was live but however). Im not a massive fan of Metallica, I thought it a little see through sounds like its made for todays music just to rake in some money(a little like pennywise's release early last year). Yes i believe they need to evolve but i think they lost their way. The songs i heard lacked direction. Plenty of agression which traditionally is their trademark but IMHO not well put together. Fast and hard is good but maybe im a bit of a traditionalist when it come to Metallica. Having said all of that i will give them the benifit of the doubt and give it some time to sink in.
If you listen to St. Anger (the song) carefully, if your a true fan you can notice that there are influences from every era of MetallicA in it, you just have to know your 'tallica :)
BTW: Great album.
Thanks
Dane.

good work agian metallica
hope u come to australia !!

Nice album cover though they could not scare a chicken from a cat. Ever since that 'Black' album of theirs they are genre breakers in the creation of 'pussy metal'. Atleast old bands like Slayer, Ministry and ND have upheld the roots and have no attempt to change which cannot be said for Meta$$ica.
They should call it a day before they end up like the rolling stones. Just imagine them singing 'fight fire with fire' in their steel bones tour of 2025. St.Ninni of a Sissy would be a more appropriate name.
