Star struck

From The Courier Mail

Driving ability may be in the stars

DRIVERS born under the star signs Gemini, Taurus, Pisces or Virgo might not want to divulge their birth dates when buying insurance. Suncorp Metway's number-crunchers have consulted the heavens and tossed the bones of fate to pinpoint who exactly costs them the most in crash claims.
It's not good news for Geminis, Taureans, Pisceans and Virgos.

The insurer's personal insurance national manager Warren Duke has promised not to raise your premiums.

But that might miff all the Capricorns, Scorpios, Sagittarians and Librans who keep their noses clean and subsidise the rest.

It's all light-hearted fun, Mr Duke says.

Suncorp Metway did not reveal the ratio splits to show what proportion of easily frustrated, restless Geminis it insures compared with the proportion of disciplined and careful Capricorns.

During the past three years, more than 14,500 Gemini policy holders have crashed their cars, according to Suncorp Metway's fortune tellers.

Taureans, the second worst culprits, are often described as obstinate and inflexible, while Pisceans (third on the list) are risk-takers and dare-devils – according to www.astrology-online.com

So that tailgater in the black BMW, who overtook on the left at 140km/h in a 100km/h zone, to tailgate the car in front, was probably a Gemini.

But the slow driver who pulled out of a side street to bring oncoming traffic to a screeching halt was probably an irresponsible (safe) Sagittarian optimist.

And the driver who crawled at 30km/h in a school zone, outside school hours, was most likely a disciplined (safe) Capricorn.

So what if you were a Capricorn and drove a Gemini?
