After inheriting a $5 billion budget surplus, screwing Victorians with record speeding fine, pokies, land tax & stamp duty revenue.
Brack has now said that after all this, labor is broke and will not build the Scoresby freeway without tolls !!!
==============================================
Dear Mr. Batchelor.
How can voters possibly let this miserable excuse of a state government get away with this backflip on the Scoresby Freeway.
The Scoresby has been declared a 'road of national importance',
and the Federal government has already set aside it's half of the
money needed for the project.
Not only has the Bracks government squandered the surplus left
by their predecessors, they have botched the VFT project, seen
blowouts on the construction of federation square, the MCG stand and stuffed up the contract at seal rocks!
They are now broke, even though they have received unprecedented revenue from speeding fines, pokies, land tax and stamp duties on houses sold.
Are we going to let Melbourne turn into a disasterous maze of tollways like Sydney? Our taxes have paid for the Scoresby, and Victorians need it built without tolls.
It must about time to switch back to a government who knows how to manage money, and run a state.
Jake.

State Budget in total chaos and declining rapidly
Public Transport now requiring $1billion to keep it afloat
Tolls on a road the Govt is only footing half the bill for
Stamp Duty highest in the country
Revenue from cameras the highest in the country
New trains built that are too wide to fit onto current railway platforms
Approximately 900 "enquires" underway all performed by contractors to the Government.
Hmmmm, about the only thing missing is the Polka dots.
Here we go again......

It's always amazed me how State Governments can get away with toll roads. The reason we pay fuel tax, rego, transfer fees and god knows how many other hidden taxes, is to pay for our roads, then these Governments expect us to pay to use these roads?
We are lucky over in WA, we don't have any toll roads, they were going to make the Tunnel a toll road, but the public kicked up about it, but we did had a 4c per litre fuel hike (introduced by Dick Court) to increase the budget of Main Roads so we didn't have to have Toll roads.
I bet though, our next State Government will introduce a toll road.

Agreed. Now we just need to find one. Both parties are so similar now that it doesn't seem to matter who we vote for, we end up getting screwed all the same.
And you all complain about Little Johnnie Howard!!!!
He may have the personality of a postage stamp, but at least he can add up (something Federal Labour were always notoriously bad at too!) :s5

Why should I pay for this road if I'm not going to use it? Do any of you know about Citylink or the terms that it was agreed on? Agreed on by the 'Sell everything off' Premier? Four toll increases allowed per year? Making not only the new roads tolled, but also old ones? Didn't think so, so before you turn this into a Liberal Party convention, get some of your facts right.

thats not the point fte22.. I never use Shittylink thank god.
also the federal government has said that in their original MOU that it was stated in the document their would be no tolls on this road, this was the premise that the 450 million the fed government was coughing up was based on... So they have already siad they will be withdrawing that funding if the road is toll based. so bracks is farked... up go the tolls. the vic govt already colelcts 2 billion a year from vic motorists.. so where does the money go??? prop up farkn public transport.
