Strange things in Tassie....

ok I was over in tassie for about 20 days or so and I need some clarification on a few things. The following is what I noticed-:

1. EVERY little car has massive wheels on it, like gemini's and excels etc etc. I thought there was some law against this, it looks damn silly in my opinion. I even saw AU's getting around with 12 slotters...WTF!!

2. Lots of cars have tinted headlights/tail lights, I must say I like the look but I thought that was illegal as well.

3. When people exit a round about they indicate "going off". I dont have a problem with it but its just wierd thats all.

And also in hobarts CBD, its even worse that chapel street, my god!!...I swear I saw the same car about 10 times with in 10 minutes.

Other than that tassie is a very nice place, and that A1 freeway is very nice. And if anyone else can go from Laurdadale to Devonport in less that 2 1/2 hours the I would liek ot hear from you.

I'm starting to notice that too. Not all that bad yet tho. I don't think it is illegal but i'm not really sure. As far as I know you never have to get your car roadworthied down here so it doesn't matter how big a POS your car is you can drive it all you like.

I have seen a few around, dunno about the legality of it.

heh, yup the CBD is a bit like that, it isn't to bad during the day, but at night the bogans come out to play . It is mostly around liverpool and collins st and they head down Salamanca place for variety.

Umm, if you are talking about lauderdale, getting to devonport from there in under 2.5 hours is impossible unless you do about 200kmh all the way. I takes me about 1.5 to 1.75 hours to get from hobart to launceston, so from lauderdale to devonport is a good 4 hour drive. And the highway between there isn't to bad unless you stuck behind slow traffic, then you sometimes have to wait ages for an overtaking lane (most highway is only 2 lane!). I find that very annoying.

ok sorry 2 and 1/2 hours was pushing it...but if you go from lauderdale through richmond along the B31 (or B32 cant quite remember) then onto the A1 all the way I did it under 3 hours easy.

it is actually law that you have to indicate when you leave a roundabout, unless you are taking the first turnoff on the left (in that case indicate left the whole time)

as you get to the roundabout indicate to the right, then as you get around to your exit indicate left as soon as you can after the previous exit (if that mkes sense) and then exit.

tassie people are trained better than aussie ones? unbelievable!

Ahh, I was thinking you when through Hobart. Still you made nice time on that little trip.
