There seems to have been a fair bit of controversey lately over whether the GT should have blackouts and stripes. Over at ls1 forums these pics show a Monaro with black stripes similar to early HK-T-G Monaros. What are you opinions? Ls1 forum boys hate them.

I honestly don't think the designer (Mike Simcoe) ever intended this to be a modern day Monaro but rather a Commodore Coupe. It was the public reaction that forced Holden into calling it a Monaro. If it was to be a Monaro, apart from the 2 doors, where are the other styling cues from the past. I would have at least expected guard flutes behing the front wheels (such as on the SSX concept car).

IMO the stripes don't suit it at all.

I'm all for stripes and blackout paint on the GT however - recalling the XW, XY GT's.

Not bad but you can tell thats not factory... on the back the stripes stop for the 350 badge/sticker yet on the front the 350 overlaps the stripes ????

also those 350 stickers look WAY wrong.... it looks like something out of the 80's. I think pull off the stickers and it'll look nice IMO, at least it looks like a monaro now LOL

I have never been a fan of the stripes on the side like that. It has always looked like something off a Torana.

I think the stripes do make the Commodore Coupe look pretty much the same as before. A Calibra with RWD, Commodore doors and badging.

The lame attempt of stripes on that photo are a vast difference from the blacked out bonnet bulge. THAT looks great and would definitely suit the car.

After all isn't it Ford that are reviving names from the past to remind people of the GT heritage.

What DK said.. Put retro GT stripes on the new FPV GT & it will look just as crappy.
