Why is now required to have a photo on your licence? in WA anyway.

never used to need one. and now they are giving me hell about requiring identification just to renew my licence.

my passport is so out of date its not accepted, and my birth certificate has been lost for many years.

The only way i can now renew is by going through the hassle of paying for a copy of my birth certificate! what a load of crap. ill just keep driving with an expired licence. has been since february anyway.

where does one get a copy of his birth certificate in wa?

I thought the photo licence was Nationwide already. Here in NSW weve had photo licences for over 10 years. It was Bob Hawkes way of getting around the objection to the Australia card.

Wholey sheit! They are plastic licence not like back in the old days when they would just give you a peice of paper...

Birth certificate can be had from the Registry of Birth, Deaths and Marriages.
Birth certificate extract is like $25 and once you have it you should keep it for ever in a safe..
Birth certificates are useful things for getting bank accounts, drivers licences, gun licences, government assistance, tax file numbers, etc..

In WA you could have a Drivers Licence with no photo, was something about criminals rights being infringed if they were identified or something.
