Suggested Road Trip LA to Tucson AZ - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

In April Im attending a conference in Tucson AZ but rather than fly directly to Tucson from LA, I thought that I would hire a car in LA and drive. Coming from Australia I have no idea how long that would take or which would be the preferred route to have a taste of the real US and what sights of interest there are. Could any of you US locals please provide some suggestions? Thanks

The trip is going to be approximately 485 miles and will take 7 to 8 hours.

The easiest route would be I-10 almost all the way.

Are you familiar with the route to suggest items of must see along the way or side trips. Particularly items with an automobile flavour.

I have been to California a few times but we always took I-40 that went through Flagstaff AZ.

You could always take Historic Route 66 from LA to Flagstaff and then drop down to Tucson. Map shows approximately 467 miles to Flagstaff and another 258 miles to Tucson.

Route 66. Now thats a great idea. I have now ordered my Route 66 Map on Amazon.

Maybe I should go the whole hog and hire a 60's convertable for the trip from LA as well.
