As some of you may know, one of the things that annoys me most about my car are the clunks, thumps and rattles I get when I go over the slightest of bumps. At one stage, I wanted to either raise the car back to standard height or sell it and get a EB or ED. Well, over the last few months I have been trying to eradicate each thump, clunk and rattle. So far I have:

-Fully greased up and tightened rear end of car while doing the diff change.
-Replaced rear trailing arms with ones that have good bushes
-Replaced all door rubbers with later model items
-Replaced drip rails with later model items
-Put 3 layers of under lay under the carpet, along with 4 under the centre console
-Put down one layer of under lay in the boot.

Along with something I'm sure no-one else has done:

-Fully removed front suspension (only RHS so far), cleaned every little bit with degreaser and brake cleaner, cleaned all mounting points and then installed a steering knuckle with almost new ball-joints, and a control arm with better bushes. After this everything was tightened up to FT. Gilly was my qualified tool-passing technician for this, he also helped with cleaning etc.

I still have to do the LHS, probably on the weekend. I'm sure I have the cleanest front RHS under-body in the club. Just for the hell of it, we took it to the car wash, jacked it up and spent 10 minutes high pressure washing everything. I even sprayed it all with tyre shine for that 'new' look

The difference: Ever so slight, but it's getting better!

Still planned:
-Removed dash, pull it all apart and put foam tape behind EVERY screw.
-Replace various interior bits and pieces that are rattling.
-Replace front and rear sway bar mounts and bushes with EL ones, as these are A LOT better than EA-ED ones.

Does anyone know whether the rear sway bar mounting stick things on EA are same as EL? Along with the track bars? I would mind replacing these too.

I'll try get some pics of this week.

All this is coming to my car within 12 months.

Replacing all bushes, shocks, balljoints and wheel bearings. Should be FUUUNNNNN.

Unfortunately, there was a problem with the torsional stability of the EA. My experience was going from top of hill near Ballarat , 120 kph., (2 degrees, and bloody cold) to bottom of hill at 4.am with heater full on, onto windscreen and crack, that was the end of that windscreen. Despite similar small problems, the EA is great.! Chris.

Hey asshole! wasn't all tool passing! If it wasn't for me then.......ummm............yeah. But there was a massive difference after the RHS was done, sounded like my dads AU!

I have a simple way of alleviating this problem..

















Turn the stereo up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! get some ful sik bass happening, that'll solve it.. or create more rattles! :)
