With the kW speculation of the new falcons (260kW, 314kW etc.) and the rumours of Holdens 400kW+ GTS, how long before someone will resurrect the "Supercar Scare" of the 70's & 80's??

The BA is obviously far safer then a Phase III GTHO, but how long before the media/government are going to start complaining about the escalation of horsepower between Ford and Holden?

mate put it this way its only a matter of time before the government decides in its wisdom that high performance cars are getting to powerful... but the cars are not to blame while ever there are these young gun test pilots driving their cars to the limit it gives off an ugly scene about all cars. just because a car has 250kw + it doesnt mean you have to use all that power all the time..save it for a track day where all is under safer conditions , besides you can only legally do 100 kph anyway without the boys in blue harrasing you anyway...things are starting to get to expensive filling up the goverments pockets .theres a big difference between using you car and abusing it..nobody is really ever satisfied with the amount of horsepower they have ..always want just that little bit more. :)

For most young hoons these powerful Fords and Holdens are unattainable at the moment... its the cheap jap imports that are the worry i reckon.

and if a car was to be wrapped around a power pole, i think id much rather been in a falcon or commodore rather then a ricer jap import

As long as the safety features increase in scale with the horsepower, I don't think we'll have too much of a problem.
