Supercar scare article in todays Courier mail
Usual beat up stuff. Put a guy who usually cycles to work in a SV300, and he said he though the power was excessive. Wow. Also suggested that these highly powerful cars could be dangerous because, even if they don't speed, when the rapidly accelerate to the speed limit pedestrians and other motorists might misjudge distances and get nailed. Also lined up two tables to show how much power performance cars (SV300, T3, Porshe turbo) have against normal cars (Comode, corolla etc). They got Tickford and HSV heavies to comment, said the usual (sensible) stuff like pointing out handling and brakes. RACQ also did some good for once pointing out that any modern car has enough power to kill you, inferring that the nut behind the wheel is the one you want to watch out for.
Now am I just being stupid or is it not reasonable to think that, given HSVs have had 300kw engines out for a couple of years now, that if they were more dangerous it would be reflected in the road traffic statisitcs. Shame the reporter was too lazy to dig there stats up, but hey, don't let it get in the way of a good story, right?
