A supercharged engine option could be the trump card in the all important numbers game that has become the driving force in the premium performance car market.
HSV is seriously studying a sophisticated supercharger conversion being developed by aspiring hot Holden player PWR Performance to provide a big boost to its top end models.
The blown version of the 5.7-litre V8 promises the power that HSV is chasing to deliver a blow to arch-rival FPV and German muscle cars.
PWR's intercooled supercharger package - developed in the states with an unnamed supplier - promises spectacular power and torque gains, with the potential to pump out 380kw and 600Nm.
MOTOR understands that PWR has achieved the big numbers in dyno testing in the USA and Australia, as well as in a Pontiac mule in the US.
The supercharger option is initially being targeted at a still-secret limited edition of the up - coming Coupe4, providing the major mumbo it cries out for to fully exploit its all-wheel drive underpinnings. But further down the track, its likely to be offered as an option on rear-drive HSVs.
PWR patron Kees Weel and HSV honcho John Crennan won't comment on the project. However, Crennan holds the view that the performance market is driven by fat figures.
MOTOR also understand PWR has bought the Fred Gibson workshop in Melbourne as a home for its radiator business, the supercharger kit business and, eventually, a road car program. MARK FOGARTY.
This article begs to ask the question, When is FPV going to get of its ass and produce the GT-HO ? Or is it going to play catch up yet again with its greatest threat to performance car supremacy !
Im sure something will be done by ford if this does ever happen.
Didnt the boss 290 put out 400rwkw with only 6psi being fed into it from Capa.
I dont think ford will want to be far behind in the power stakes again.

Now is the time for ford to pre-empt Holden, and produce a 5.8 litre blown GTHO.(400kw)
Playing catch up misses out on the new kid sales.
I love the idea of an Boss 351
Typhoon ????LMFAO......if holden or ford throw S/C's on their respective V8's, then the typhoon will really earn it's name......It'll be spinnin' around all right.........around in circles that is..... from the big V8's flying past.
This could be good for Ford, it might make them go one step further, and down the same path as HSV, we will just have to wait and see.some good time's ahead.

Hmm, just what we need.... another supercar scare.
Where is anyone going to drive a factory 350+ KW HSV, or FPV for that matter, considering they void your warranty for strip/track use.
And i'm more interested in seeing how they plan on getting a transmission and diff combo thats going to take that sort of power... especially in a 4wd setup
