Got home from work this arvo, grab the mail and what do i get.... a nice letter from the State Debt Recovery Office telling me if i dont pay my outstanding fine of $166 i will have my license suspended!!
Now thinking hard, couldnt for the life of me think of any fines ive ever got, so ring them, after being on hold for about 30 mins i get some dweeb. I ask him what it is, he says i was pulled over in Narrabry on the 13th of Dec 2003. I said i have never been there, let alone on that date (proved by the fact i cant even spell it!!), he informs me yes you were pulled over and had a residential address there! I recieved no fines, no warnings to pay nothing until this notice of suspension of my license in nine days.
So he is sending me out a form to fill out to contest but the fact i didnt contest it earlier will work against me he says! this is the biggest crock!
I have to prove i wasnt in this place at 4.06AM on the 13th of december or wear the fine (which aint happening on principle) or lose my license for something i didnt do.
Oh yes forgot, who ever was driving the YLG license plated car gave my name as my and date of birth cause 'i' wasnt carrying 'my' license hence what the fine is for, not presenting my license!!
I must say this sucks, nine days till suspension unless i can prove i wasnt in some hillbilly country town! (no offence to anyone who lives there!)
If it wasnt for beer, i would be seriuosly pissed off i reckon!! Just had to spew this one out!!!
How are you supposed to remember where you were 9 months ago!!!
You should really speak to a solicitor. And if there really is nothing you can do or its too expensive then i would recomend you try to kick up some publicity like thru Current Affair or Today Tonight.
i hate those shows, but maybe they can show something good for once.

I agree with xrgran, just fill out a stat dec. that provides a declaration from you and your parents or spouse stating that on the 13 th of DEcember 2003 at 4 am in the bloody morning you were tucked up in bed...
All previous letters were sent to a narrabry address that he wouldnt give me. Dont know why all of a sudden its coming to my address in sydney!
Currently have work going through time sheets, rosters, records and printing it all off for me for the three days, the date, plus day before and day after.
Im pretty sure i can prove i was here, its just a pain in the arse and an inconvenience really!!

Man that is tight. At the moment i have a fine for parking in a disabled zone which i never did. On the night in question i was parked on the side of the road about 10 metres away BEHIND a disabled zone. If they want to hit me for a fine for parking in a non parking area then go ahead but i didnt park in a disabled zone.

If they sent the previous letters to Narrabry, then the offender must have given that address and due to some stuff up in their system, they switched it onto you. If it was a work night and you obviously would have been tucked up in bed resting before tackling another day, then your family/spouse etc could safely provide a stat dec even if they can't exactly recall the day.
