Was talking to a bloke who worked at ford the other day (won't say exactly what department, dont want him to get into trouble), when the subject of the BA2 gearbox came up. He told me that they have been testing a 6 speed auto 'box, possible the ZF from the Jag. Apparantly dollars dicates whether it will make an appearance, but it is the one that ford wants. He also told me that they had XR6T's producing 330kw before meltdown. He said to make that power safely they need better plumbing and intercooling.

Rumors are all good and well, but i think that we should just wait for the real deal to show. I've heard different stories from my transmission dude as he has friends high up that work for BTR. BTR say that for sure that it will be a 5 speed supplied for them. But then it still is all just speculaton so we will not know untill further down the track. I just think that we shoudl keep an open mind.

Im not knoking anyone, it all makes intersting reads.

I thought Holden was adopting a BTR 5speed and Ford goes with ZF????? They have to be better than the ones they have now. And while they're at it, Ford may as well make the Tremec standard on all Falcons- not just the V8s.

The Tremec is a much smother box then the BTR box that was in my EFXR6.

So it seems the gearbox roomers are unclear.

It would not suprise me if Ford OZ is running parrael developements of gearboxes.. Not only to keep everyone on there toes, but if the BTR one doesn't come up to scratch. They have backup, also depends what holden and co are playing with..

About the 330kw and meltdown,

My local Ford dealer told me that Hilliers have produced a 330kw XR6-T, upped the boost from 6 to 18 lbs. Didn't mention anything about intercoolers though.

Of course 18 psi may be getting close to the limit of boost, but more power could be had by making it rev a bit harder..

18psi boost for 330Kw? Give us a break! Even if you could get the motor to handle 18 psi, that is nothing like the power figure you could expect - unless that is at the wheels.
