I ust don't get the names they've used for the Tickford cars. WIth as much emotion and almost as many digits as a Datsun 120Y, the name TE50 is a branding challenge.
So why did they chose the number 50 to include in all the models? One would assume it was because of the 5.0 Litre capacity of the engines. But the 5.6 seems to have proven that wrong.
So what's the go here?
Have FTE dumped the 'metric capacity' name now in order to continue building the brand name? Or did they name the TE50, TS50 and TL50 for some other reason?
So what's my opinion? Well, I think the strength of the TE, TS and TL would have been able to stand on their own. I am of the opinion that TE56, TS56 and TL56 would have been more appropriate names to give the new Tickfords.
So what arguments are there, other than brand name recognition, that could lead to keeping the number 50?
Hmm, I reckon drop the numbers, just have TE, TS and TL.. after all that's what we refer to them as anyway!

Haha thats a good point. Hmm I wonder though in the AV if they will go that way. Eg TE54. My only complaint with that is that it sounds a bit fiddly. Personally I would be tempted to drop the number and go like el2xr8 said and just called them TE, TS and TL.

it will be interesting to see exactly what happens with the naming and lineup structure of the AV t series, with the T1 we had the TE force HSV to invent the clubby R8, then with T3, fte drop TE back into clubsport area and TS into R8 teritory or that is what seems to have happened to me, will they continue this structure for high end GT and GTHO models or will it again be changed, I guess only time will tell
I've said it before, and i'll say it again;
The entire FTE naming is screwed up and is confusing the hell out of customers.
FTE Dealerships = makes no sense, as their is no mention of fte on the cars, and people have no idea what it means or stands for. People associate tickford as the HSV competitor, and would be looking for a tickford sign. not an fte sign.
The cars are badged as Fords and Tickfords, Maybe they should just be badged as tickfords, and sold at 'tickford' dealerships.
The car naming TE50 TS50 TL50 is also confusing. makes no sense..!
DO something about all this by AV please Uncle Geoff, David!
