Telstra.....Not Impresed

We all hear how Telstra is trying to improve services.......

Makes you wonder when you ring them a week before you move into your rural home to give them plenty of time to arrange things and you find out they cant get a service person out until 10th December 2002 just to check the lines ....( expecially when you call then on the 25th November 2002)

This was after 5 phone calls to them trying to explain exactly where the property was .......Lot number .....this place has none......sorry madam was the reply ......I have to have a Lot number .........

I finally got a semi reasonable girl who finally found the property I was trying to connect at .......then the last straw of well we cant get anyone out there untill a week after you move in ...sometime between 7am & 12noon......

I ask all ......where is this so called service ..........

Any Telstra workers who can help me would be greatly appreacitated :)

I need a phone .....not good ...no net ......no phoe being too far out of town should ex come a callin

I work for Telstra and its a bit of a wanky company, as it has a huge monopoly on the telecommunications industry of asutralia there is really no other medium to use apart from it in the outback, im not sure about Optus's operating area but you could always see what they have to say.

Everyone goes off there rocker at me when theres no service for them, so i just tell em to deal with it or start up your own, better freakin telecommunications company. There reply, beep beep beep as they slam the phone, hehehe

Roll with the punches big fella, otherwise you'll end up a very angry person. Its not worth the anger, just go with what they say...

When I wanted the phone connected to my house they told me the same time, so I arranged to take half a day off from work...the guy ended up coming out at 5.30pm. He wasn't even a Telstra employee, he was a contracter. I wanted the phone in the lounge room, but the guy reckons this was too hard so all he could do was to put the phone in the other end of the house in my bedroom. Bloody useless. No amount of persuading or arguing was going to change this guy's mind so I had to take it or leave it. I was talking to my next-door-neighbour about it and he said he had a mate who lived just up the road who worked for Telstra and he'd assk him about it. This guy came down and said yeh he could do it, it was hard but not impossible - the contracter was just being lazy. It only cost me a case of beer!

Think yourself lucky. I work for BMA mining out near Mackay. Being a multi billion dollar company, you'd expect some good service right? WRONG! Their PABX is outdated, and they have been waiting 2 months for Telstra to install the new one. And it's not cause they are waiting for parts. All the gear is sitting there, waiting to go in. Slackers.

I can't even get phone service at my place in Sutherland Shire - that's Sydney! Telstra want me to buy all new phones, car kits blah blah yet on the coverage maps I should have service.

The fight continues.......

Be very aware of the CSG (Customer Service Guarantee) that Telstra offers, it compensates $$ those customers whose service is not connected, repaired, etc, within a set time frame. Not sure of the contact details but anyone at telstra should be able to inform you of your eligability. 2 phone lines not connected for 6 months gave me a handy $2648 CSG!!

Further update on this Telstra saga

Have had a message left at 5.58pm today

"please call us because the location description isnt enough, We need a Lot number, no further action will be taken to connect your phone until we get your return phone call"

Like **** ** ******** ........ I rang them at 6.01pm ......got a message sayin the office is unattended .......

Do they leave messages that late so they arnt the ones to get the irrate customer ????????

The girl told me it was all ok yesterday only will take 2 weeks to connect, I have told them there is NO LOT NUMBER for this property.

What makes it worse is that the previous tennant had a phone connected, so its not like they havent been there before.........

XR8SAM......thanks for that .......they tell me the time limit for the city is 5 working days and for us folk who chose to live a little further out it's 10 to 15 working days ..............

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

If the previous tennant had a phone connected then give them that number.

When Telstra disconnect a service they just change the line parameters in the exchange to stop the service making calls to numbers other than 000 and Telstra.

If the new house doesn't have a handset then take one with you and check for dial tone. If it has dial tone then ring Telstra and tell them that you want this number reconnected. This can be done almost straight away. They will have the number on their screen. It won't take a site vist. If you need a handset you can pick it up from a Telstra shop or I think they will even send it to a post office.

Every block of land has a lot number, you just don't know what it is. Check with the local council.

Good luck.
