my dads mate used to own a VT Series 1 Commodore S supercharged V6, now he has a VY series 1 235kw V8 and swears that his old blown 6 was much quicker? This has to be wrong, perhaps the Gen 3 just doesnt feel as quick, perhaps the acceleration is smooth all the way rather than that initial burst and then less acceleration? Somethings not right there.
honestly line the 2 up and you will see the difference 235kw compared to 260kw
ive run a GTP 290 and a XR6 and a XR8 and ive won everytime. there a nice car i have been in a couple of forum members cars and they just dont have the pull.
***note this is my opinion and is not intended to discredit the XR or the Ford motor company and i ask of you not to flame this thread because of my comment please****

Brings up the theory that Holden give the journos cars with hotter motors, which I believe they do. How can a stock 235kw VY SS run 13.9 quarters when a Clubsport with 25 more KW and a lower diff ratio can barely match that.

I reckon that's spot on. They are deceptively quick and the power just keeps on coming the more they rev.

yes as above under 3500-4000rpm very sluggish but the top end is there high point my first impression of the GEN III was slow sluggish but once going and revving very very nice.

I have driven a few and my first one ( VT2 SS ) felt very sluggish until I looked at the speedo ... they are very decpetive.
I guess like most cars you learn how to get the best from them after driving it for a while.

From memory it was in motor or wheels, I've got that issue somewhere and the journos are questioning that themselves, they thought they had a hotted up car. The ss ran 13.9 and the car was sent stright from holden. The clubsport sent from hsv ran 14.57 or something like that(correct me if im wrong). I'll scan the story in if someone can post the jpg for me. (my login won't work with pics for some reason)
