Hey, I was thinking the other day.

Why is it that NZ gets new cars earliier the Aussie????:eek:
Eg:
Evo 7 - all ready here in NZ (and I've seen two on the roads) and in aus the only just got the Evo 6 SE, & will be next year!!!
STi - The ugly one, all ready here, seen like ten of 'em, and they wont be in aus till later this year!
I know theres heaps of other examples that I've thought of before, and I'll post them as they come to mind:rolleyes:

I think it's because NZ doesn't have ADR equivalents. Therefore whats good enough for japan is good enough for NZ, whereas aussie car have to go through tedious expensive and time consuming crashtests, emission tests etc etc.

I'm sure one of the other guys knows more about this issue but I think it has something to do with 'Grey' imports.

It takes along time for these cars to meet ADR specification so therefore the Car makers very rarely bother because it can be a large expense and very little in terms of car numbers. I think there will be more of these cars on the roads sooner now that there is a law allowing car makers too bring in these sort of cars, I think they are allowed upto 100 cars.

I hope I am somewhere in the ballpark with my assumptions.
