Ads in car sales section advertising take over book (finance) for a partly paid off car. Used to be common. Usually involved a big discount as the seller was usually in financial trouble.
Amphometers. Two rubber tubes connected to a machine that calculated time and distance to establish speed. First speed detection machine used by cops in Vic in ?60's and 70's. Beauty of them was that you could fly on tram lines because they couldn't lay them there.
Headlight dipswitches on the floor.
12v oscillating fans on the dash. Very impressive A/C in an FJ in their day.
OE felt-lined tool boxes with cutout recesses for all the tools. Very neat.
Drive in movies. A whole culture. Trying to sneak mates in for free. Driving off without remembering to remove the speaker from the window, which was always a crowd pleaser. Filling up beer bottles after straining their contents through your body because it was easier than walking to the toilets, but hard to do sitting down without making a mess. Shagging.
Ahhhh, Drive-ins. They were great. I think there is still two in Sydney and one in Melbourne. I remember reading a newspaper article about them the other day, I'll try and find the link.

Pretty sure the one in Melb is in Coburg. Was operating about four or five years ago when I took the missus and kids to see James and the Giant Peach (kids' film). Nowhere near as much fun as when the missus and I were courting or some of the other sheilas I took to the drive in, and the film was crap too, although the kids loved it. And no bloody beer either, because of .05. Talk about bored stiff!

Yeah you can actually...I have seen them in the freezers at the local coles. I was surprised when I saw them.
What about TOOBS... anyone still see these? About 2 years ago i think I used to eat them all the time, then they misteriously dissapeared and I have not seen them since.
