My Cousin just recently paid the Rego on his Laser but the car is sooo stuffed he picked up a nice EB cheap but the EB has no rego currently on it.

Now i remember a while back you could get the Rego transfered between 2 of your cars if you had a Valid RWC on the unregistered car and u owned both cars, is this still the case? Use to cost like $80 to transfer it over to the other car

ive searched Vicroads and cant find anything.

Yeah I think it's the case. It would be a pain if you had to cancel one and the start the new one!

REALLY!?!?! i'll enquire also as this would be perfect for me and a bloke at work, i would guess no as it sounds like a great idea which would save us money instead of losing 20% of pro rata rego which is $100 if you just paid $500 on 12 months rego

just rang vic roads, no you can't transfer rego from one car to another. have to cancel rego and lose 20% of pro rata value and then rego from scratch the new one eg new plates cost and $31.XX booking fee for inspection at vic roads on top of unreg permit plus rwc costs
i think this mob are trying to keep up with dentists and doctors for charging you for everything cos you NEED to use them

Yeah Vicroads are fukn government backed scam artists.

I needed some documents from them for a court case and had to pay $3.50 per page with only 4 lines on them!!!!

And dont get me started on the rego fees. Having a concession card counts for nothing nowadays

last time i got a car rego'd they told me that if you have a booking with vicroads you dont need to get the unreg permit (for the day of the booking only)...dont know if that still exists or not

only to register the car for the booking, which is almost pointless as you will probably get a permit to rwc the car that will be rego'd within permit dates anyway

could someone tell me what goes on when you reregister a car?

he has a RWC for the EB and we have checked the Vic Road website and as far as i can tell its around $550 for him to get it re rego'd

So you would have to supply a current RWC and the $$$ and the car right?

providing its not stolen he would need to book the inspection appointment$31.xx that gives permission to drive the unreg car to vic roads now, from memory number plates cost less than $30,may need$24 transfer fee, and stamp duty$8 for every $200 or $40 per $1000 of purchase price
rego varies in different suburbs allow $550ish bring car and RWC on time of booking and you'll be out of there pretty quick if nothing goes wrong(they will call cops if they reckon numbers have been tampered with eg. rebirth) good luck i'm about 3 weeks away from doin the same exept i need a VIV check also as my car was a repairable write off
